KU Endowment Marketing Photoshoot

I did a shoot with my friend John Jordan of Jordan Photography last week at KU Endowment. John asked me to do the photoshoot but he came along to assist me.KU Endowment is located in Kansas City and they raise private funds for Kansas University. This shoot was great cause it allowed me to breakout some of my old photography tricks that I never get to use with my wedding and portrait photography. They were looking for a nice marketing photo that showed the experience of being in the KU medical labs. We showed up and didn't know what kind of space or time we had to work with. Come to find out we were in a very compact lab with about 30 minutes for this shoot. I setup a blue gel on one of my Calumet 750 monolights to get the background to go blue and give it a nice cool feel. I then used my Canon 550EX to light the subject in the foreground. I positioned this flash so that it wouldn't spill onto the blue background and I added a large panel diffuser to soften the light. We got some great shots right away and good thing we did because they were actually working on a real lab project in the photo and ran out of work 15 minutes after we started shooting. They looked at me and said they don't have anything else to do so I said "Well, I guess we're done. Good thing we got the shot!"
