Spencer Family Portraits in the Park

Jolee went to my Beyond The Basics Photography Workshop in March and she is such a fun spirited woman. Every since then we have been in touch with email and she returned for the Beyond Photoshop Workshop in the beginning of May. With all that said I must say I was delighted when she asked me to photograph her family portraits. We had a great time a couple of weeks ago shooting in Loose Park with her husband, Justin and their little boy Hunter. It was one of the first good weather days we had in a long time so everybody was at the park that day. We still managed to have great photo opportunities. Jolee had warned me about her boy Hunter. He was just a ball of energy and you couldn't keep that guy still for a second. I just let him do his thing and captured him in the moment. The shots turned out great! Here are some for you to enjoy. I will have a couple weddings to post soon so keep coming back. After all, I am a wedding photographer and this is a wedding photography blog:)

Be sure to check out Jolee's website too. She's as great of a photographer as she is a model:)

This one is my favorite...

More on the Fashion Shoot with Ericson Studio

This post is the follow-up to the last post when I went to Wichita to do a fashion promo shoot with my friend Eric Nguyen of Ericson Studio. Eric has a sweet studio on Douglas Street in Wichita with two large display windows. I was down there for Wichita River Festival Weekend when he did this fashion promo and Douglas was the main strip for a lot of people traffic during the River Fest. Eric had over ten models show up at his studio and gave them all full hair and make-up. Then for two hours they posed in the store front windows as mannequins. The reaction was incredible! Check out a couple of the photos from the event...

Fashion Photography with Ericson Studios

I had an awesome shooting experience with my friend Eric in Wichita. He runs Ericson Studio and is probably the best photographer in Wichita. He did a fashion promo for his studio and I was so glad to be down there that weekend and be part of it. I will share more photos from this shoot later but just had to share these with you. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend! I am off to Wichita again (this time for a wedding).

Neelie & Dominic E-Session 5.11.08

I have known Neelie since she was a little girl. I have been friends with her older brother since high school. It seems like yesterday that her brother and I were attempting to give her a swirly in the bathroom toilet. It is crazy to think that she is getting married now. I am getting so old LOL! I was super excited when Neelie asked me to shoot her wedding this October. She is so beautiful and looks just like her mother. She also found a great guy, Dominic, to marry. I can't wait for the wedding.

We had a beautiful Mother's Day morning in Wichita to shoot their engagement photos. We were in Wichita, Kansas and they have a historic downtown area that is known as 'Old Town'. This area is filled with beautiful brick buildings and has an old rustic feel with red brick paved alleyways. We had a blast shooting together. They are both so much fun! I had only met Dominic one other time and he is a great guy that was easy to get good shots of. The most fun of the whole shoot was watching Dominic climb the fire escape to get the stairs down so we could get some photos on it. They all turned out so great too! Congratulations Neelie and Dominic on your engagement! Here is a slideshow from the shoot...

A weekend of Fashion, Engagement and Golf

I had a crazy busy weekend! That is my excuse for not posting in awhile. I did an amazing fashion shoot, a fun engagement shoot and a charity golf tournament this last weekend. I was shooting non-stop! Not to mention the family photos I did for my friends who were in town from Chicago. I have a lot to share so check back soon. I am off to do another shoot now but here is a photo from the Bill Self Cystic Fibrosis Golf Classic. That is Bill Self (head coach of the 2008 National Champion Kansas Jayhawks) in the green shirt.

BEYOND PHOTOSHOP was a SUCCESS!

After the feedback from BEYOND THE BASICS we decided to create a second workshop that focused specifically on Photoshop (with a little bit of Lightroom) and created BEYOND PHOTOSHOP. Well, this was the second Photography Workshop this year by John Jordan and I and it was great to see some friends from our last workshop again. This workshop was ALL PHOTOSHOP! It was a five-hour one-day workshop and we covered everything I use in my post-processing workflow. It worked out great cause we had a living room style format with only seven of us so anyone could ask questions at anytime. On top of the learning, it was great to catch back up with Lori, Jolee, and Jenni. Plus, we met two new friends with Paul and Greg. We all had a great time and I think everyone left a bit overwhelmed. I am excited to see everyone's photos now after teaching them BEYOND PHOTOSHOP. Here is a little of what we covered along with a p&s shot from the workshop...

Be sure to check out John Jordan's blog for more images from BEYOND PHOTOSHOP and be sure to keep checking back here for future workshops as we continue to go BEYOND!

WillowBook Sample Album

I am always looking for the best albums for my brides. I have been using Queensberry which makes some of the best handcrafted albums out of New Zealand. Well, I recently received a great offer from my online lab to make a sample album through WillowBook. I have been uncertain of WIllowBook for sometime now but I must say that I am very impressed with the quality of this album. They use genuine leather and have beautiful binding. The pages lay flat and the prints from Pictage are amazing! After seeing this album I will now be providing WillowBook to my clients. Check it out for yourself...
