Anne and Eric E-Session

The end of their senior year was approaching and Eric was given a choice, ask me out or I'm moving on. For any teenage boy this is like steadying the tweezers to get that funny shaped wishbone in a tense game of Operation! Especially, when you already have this beautiful friendship with someone you have shared everything with over the last couple of years. Needless to say, Eric calmed his nerves and was able to ask Anne to be his girlfriend without getting buzzed. From that day they shared their college years at Kansas University and continued to Chicago for Anne to go to seminary. It was a beautiful June evening on the Navy Pier filled with fireworks that ended with Eric putting a ring on Anne's finger and asking her to marry him. We revisited that same spot for their engagement photos along with many other places throughout downtown Chicago. We made a day of their e-session and just took in all of Chicago. A special thanks to my best friend Jeremy for assisting me and taking some great photos and video clips. It was a great time with Anne and Eric and I can't say enough about how great of a couple they are. Anne and Eric will be getting married in Wichita this January. I am so excited for the two of you! Enjoy the photos from our amazing day in the Windy City...

I wanted to get this green wall with Anne's purse...

This shot reminds me of Paris and I just love the guy in the background snapping a quick shot with his point and shoot:)

I like this one in color and BW so I had to share both...

One of my favorites from the day! They are having so much fun and the little kids staring in the background are cracking me up...

Funny video from Chicago

Some of you may remember that I went to Chicago a few weeks ago to meet with Bob and Dawn Davis and help my friend move. As you know, moving is a lot of work so you have to find creative ways to keep yourself going. This video is hilarious and shows one of the ways we entertained ourselves during it all. Sorry about the bad quality but his was taken from my phone.

Uncle K returns from Chicago and Austin

I just returned from a week and a half of being on the road. It was a great time with friends and meeting new people but I am glad to be back home for a while. I started off in Chicago with helping my friend Janak move back to Wichita. While I was there I spent some good time with my friends Jeremy and Mandy. Jeremy, Janak and I have been best friends since high school and it is always great when the three of us can get together. We spent a couple days packing up Janak’s house and putting it all in a huge moving truck. You never know how much stuff you have until you have to pack it up. Janak got the biggest truck so he knew he wouldn’t run out of space and we still filled the truck to the end!

I headed back with Janak in the moving truck and he dropped me off at home in Kansas City on Wednesday at 6pm. I had a wedding consultation at 7pm. I was excited to meet Dwight and Ginger. They are a beautiful couple and their wedding will be great! After my meeting with them I had to go home and pack again cause I was leaving with my friends Jake, Brandy and their kids to go to Austin at 10pm. Yes, this is all in the same night. I was home for a total of 4 hours. Brandy invited me to come with them to Austin to shoot photos of them with their kids while they were there celebrating her grandma’s 70th birthday at a beautiful lake house. Despite a long drive we had a great time. Their kids are just awesome and I always have so much fun with them. I am Uncle K to them along with many of my other friend’s kids (in case you were wondering about the title of this post). I guess that is what happens when you are a single grown-up where the only thing that separates you from them is your age☺ Kyler, Kaori, and Brice (also known as Buddha Belly) are so much fun and they had me laughing so much. We got some amazing photos but also had a lot of fun just hanging out. We went to the Alamo and the River Walk in San Antonio the first night in Texas. We followed it up with some intense games of dominoes and horseshoes at the lake house the next few nights accompanied with plenty of food and drinks. The nights were beautiful and when things slowed down I snuck off and took some amazing night shots of the lake. Check these out:

I had a great time in Texas. I use to live there so it was good to taste it again. By Sunday morning we had some awesome photos and great time with people but there was still a long ride to get back home. We finally arrived at my house at midnight last night. The kids were asleep and it was rainy outside which left for a short goodbye. I woke up today completely rejuvenated and thanked God for all the wonderful people he has put into my life. Here are a couple of the group shots from Chicago and Austin but stay tuned for the fun shots with all the kids in Austin…

Chicago Time

I am going to Chicago for a week. This is a partial vacation for me. I am helping one of my best friends, Janak, move back down to Wichita, Kansas. He and his wife just started a family with their beautiful baby boy Peyton. All of their family is in Kansas so it was time to return home so the grandparents could be close by. One of my other best friends, Jeremy, is in Chicago with his wife and daugther (and another one on the way) so I will get to see them too. While I am there I will also be meeting with Bob and Dawn Davis. They have La Storia foto and do fascinating wedding photography along with a lot of work for Opera. Check out their site. It will amaze you! This will be the first time I get to meet them and I am super excited about it. They are amazing photographers and from Dawn's emails and what others say I know they are even better friends. Have a great week and stay tuned for some news from Chicago.

Chicago Family Shoot

I did a photo shoot for my friends in Chicago last month and realized that I didn't share any of them on my blog. They are too good not to share! Jeremy is one of my best friends since high school and his wife, Mandy, has been a friend since high school as well. He play a big part in my relationship with the Lord and we have had a great friendship over the last 15+ years. They have a precious little girl named Sylvie ("Sylvie-Bug") and another one on the way. I loved taking photos of them. They are so in love with each other and it made it easy to capture these great photos. Here are some of my favorites.

The 3rd Coast

I am still in Chicago for the Pictage Conference. There are so many amazing wedding photographers here and I love it. Can't wait for tomorrow. I went with two of my best friends to a great little coffee shop cafe in the heart of Chicago tonight. The coffee shop is The 3rd Coast. It has a smooth atmosphere with good food. There is also some art to be appreciated. Tonight I saw portraits that were made from chewed bubble gum stuck to plywood then sealed with latex. These were amazing art pieces. I literally thought they were paintings until I saw the tag on one of them. Stay tuned cause I will be sharing more about the Pictage Conference after tomorrow.

Deseri and Luis Wedding : Going to Chicago

I am going to Chicago today to photograph family photos for my friend Janak, his wife Tamara, and their new baby boy Peyton. It is exciting to be able to give them their first family photos. I also get to see some other friends while I am there and I am going to a Pictage Conference on May 8th-9th.

I wanted to share some photos from Deseri and Luis' Wedding that I shot on April 21st in Sugar Creek, Missouri. It was an outdoor wedding and I really enjoyed shooting it. Deseri and Luis met about a year ago and they love to go salsa dancing. It was fun to see them, and all their guests, on the dance floor. I went to college with Deseri so I knew a lot of her friends at the wedding. It was great to catch up with people that I hadn't seen in a long while. Here are some of my favorite photos from the wedding. Have a great weekend!
