Heather and Domanic had a beautiful wedding last weekend at Club 1000 in downtown Kansas City. The weather outside was gloomy but love was still in the air. They are such a fun couple and have become like friends to me over the last year. Heather would often text me about what was going on with her wedding planning or just to say Happy Thanksgiving and Domanic saw me working on the slideshow while eating at the reception and asked why I wasn't out there with everyone else. I just love how connected I have become with Heather and Domanic ever since the first time we met.

Heather was stunning in her wedding dress and Domanic, the tough guy with tattoos, had his sensitive side come out at their first site. It was funny to hear him talk about his friends and how much grief they gave him for the engagement photos with their little dogs. When his eyes started to water up after seeing Heather for the first time in her dress he knew it was just going to add to the hard time he already gets from his boyz! I know for that moment it didn't matter to Domanic! His bride was gorgeous and his emotions couldn't lie about how he felt about Heather.

The wedding was beautiful! I look forward to keeping in touch with Heather and Domanic in the future. Here are some of the great photos from the day...

A guest at a wedding

I'm at a wedding right and I'm not the photographer! Can you believe
it? It's bittersweet... I enjoy just being able to watch the ceremony
without any responsibilities but this place is so spectacular that I
really wish I had my camera!

A surprise visit

Last night I was surprised with a phone call that my friends, the
Alessis', were going to be coming through KC. We all just saw each
other a couple weeks ago when I was in Chicago but it's always a
blessing to see them. We have been friends for over half our lives
now! Their kids are so precious to me and they brighten my day! We got
up early for breakfast at Chik-fil-a before they continue their
journey down to Wichita.

Halloween Fun Tonight

Hangin with the Ashley and Ashli on Halloween tonight at a party with
friends. I am a monk, Ashley is naughty n nice (half angel and half
devil), and Ashli is 'almost' a hula dancer (if you get rid of the
long sleeves and give her a hula skirt:). Happy Halloween!

I voted early tonight. I wanted to encourage everyone to be sure and
make time to vote, either early or on November 4th. Our country is
more important then the contestants on American Idol so be sure to
have a voice in this election. There is a lot going on now and we need
to show our support more now then ever. See you at the poles! Wait, I
aleady voted! So I won't see you at the poles but you still need to go
VOTE:) God Bless America!

Anne and Eric E-Session

The end of their senior year was approaching and Eric was given a choice, ask me out or I'm moving on. For any teenage boy this is like steadying the tweezers to get that funny shaped wishbone in a tense game of Operation! Especially, when you already have this beautiful friendship with someone you have shared everything with over the last couple of years. Needless to say, Eric calmed his nerves and was able to ask Anne to be his girlfriend without getting buzzed. From that day they shared their college years at Kansas University and continued to Chicago for Anne to go to seminary. It was a beautiful June evening on the Navy Pier filled with fireworks that ended with Eric putting a ring on Anne's finger and asking her to marry him. We revisited that same spot for their engagement photos along with many other places throughout downtown Chicago. We made a day of their e-session and just took in all of Chicago. A special thanks to my best friend Jeremy for assisting me and taking some great photos and video clips. It was a great time with Anne and Eric and I can't say enough about how great of a couple they are. Anne and Eric will be getting married in Wichita this January. I am so excited for the two of you! Enjoy the photos from our amazing day in the Windy City...

Little Gracie in her bumble-bee costume. Took a chilly hayrack ride to
retrieve this pumpkin today. Not many smiles in the cold weather but
she is still so precious! Gracie is my friends' daughter here in
Chicago.

This is the new Pelican softcase camera bag and it is awesome! It
holds all my camera gear nicely and has a detachable laptop case so I
can take my laptop and camera on as carry-on bags without exceeding
the size limits. It's also very discrete in appearance and doesn't
shout "steal me." I'm at the airport now and I breezed through for the
first time without them go all through my camera bag. It's great! Off
to Chicago now!

I photographed Ashley and Sean's wedding this past Saturday and Club 1000. They were a beautiful couple and we had a lot of fun together. After the first site we loaded up the party bus and went to Loose Park and the fountain in downtown KC. We got some amazing photos with a beautiful blue sky at the park. The ceremony went great and then we all rocked it out at the reception. They had a great DJ and he had the whole dance floor packed and I was out there moving it a little bit with my camera in hand (You may not want to imagine me doing that:) Here are some of the beautiful shots from the day...

This is my favorite. These two were so cute. Eddie and Ashley are brother and sister. He was so shy but she just pulled him in when I told them to get closer together...

Ginger & Dwight

Oh my, I can't believe I never posted this wedding before! This is a wedding I shot a back in July and it is one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever photographed. Ginger and Dwight are a gorgeous couple and they had a big beautiful wedding party to compliment them too (12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen). Just by knowing how many friends they had in their wedding party you can see how incredibly cool and nice these two are. They had their wedding at the Overland Park Church of Christ and the reception was at the Overland Park Convention Center. The church was huge and looked great but when it came to shooting the photos I couldn't pass up the small white school house across the street with paint chips falling off of it:) Check out the amazing photos from this wedding. Sorry I didn't get these up earlier but it has been a super busy and great summer for weddings. Congratulations to Ginger and Dwight! Enjoy...

Bekah & Jon 10.4.08

I just shot an amazing wedding today with my friend Sara at Hillcrest Covenant Church in Kansas City. Bekah and Jon met back in second grade and it was true puppy love. They had a lasting friendship but he knew from the beginning that he wanted to marry her. Fourteen years later and they are celebrating their marriage to each other. To be a photographer and capture the end of that story and the beginning of a new love story is so great to me. That is why I do what I do. This story is even better though. Bekah is in a wheelchair and with the aide of her parents she walked down the aisle to be given away to her knight in shining armor, Jon. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place when that happened! They followed that up with Bekah's brother sharing of their faith in Christ and for their desire to have everyone there know the same hope. He also pastored the wedding ceremony. It was great! Bekah was so beautiful and the spirit and love of both of them was so inspiring to me. You could see how much love they had, not only for each other, but for everyone they meet because they had the largest wedding party I have seen with over 24 people! The celebration continued with the reception at the Camelot Ballroom. They skipped the traditional cake cutting and had pancakes instead. What a sweet wedding! Congratulations Bekah and Jon! Susan and Jared met on eharmony and they truly are a perfect match. Their wedding was so beautiful and I had so much fun with them at their wedding and their engagement session. I have never seen a guy so in love with a woman as Jared is with Susan. And rightfully so, Susan is a beautiful and intelligent woman. I have never seen her without a smile on her face. Susan and Jared had an amazing wedding at Longview Mansion in Kansas City this last weekend. We had so much fun together! When Susan isn't laughing she is smiling and it is very contagious (even when I had my keys locked in my car and we were away from the mansion shooting photos with no ride back). Jared is such a cool guy too. He just adores Susan. Just watching him look at her made me think of how I want to feel about my wife if I ever get married. They both enjoy shooting photos together too. We had a great time with the engagement session and their wedding was no exception. We had over an hour to shoot around before the ceremony and got some wonderful shots. The weather was beautiful and the sky was bright blue for the outside ceremony at the fountain in front of the mansion. Check out the slideshow below and I will be posting more individual shots soon. Kansas Speedway Weekend

It's that time of year again when NASCAR comes to Kansas City. Every
year my brother comes up with his family and friends. They bring their
RVs and campout on the infield for four days. It puts you right there
in the action and it's a great time! Here I am on top of the RV

I shot an amazing wedding this weekend in Wichita. Nicole and Andrew were an extremely fun 'no holds barred' couple which made for some spectacular wedding photos. They had their wedding in the beautiful Scottish Rite Center in downtown Wichita. This building is three stories of historical beauty! We had such a great time shooting photos in there before the ceremony and God even turned off the rain for us to go outside and shoot for awhile. This photo was from First Friday last week. There was this artist with with paintings that looked like they came straight from a comic book and this one had two blank quote bubbles on it. I thought it would be fun to pretend being a comic book character and using the quote bubbles. Ashley got kind of lost in the background cause I only had my iPhone to take this shot. New Horizon Ranch: Boots-n-Bling

This is the second year I volunteered my time to shoot the Auction/Fund Raising Dinner for New Horizon Ranch called Boots-n-Bling. I just love this organization! Brian Miller and his wife, Joy, started up New Horizon Ranch a couple years ago to help challenged kids grow through the use of horseback riding. You would be amazed at how this interaction with horses can really help these kids. I remember seeing one of the kids, Ivan, last year and his improvements in his mannerisms and social skills were more then impressive to me this year. It is no surprise that he was named NHR's Rider Of The Year. The dinner was held at the Lodge at Ironwoods in Leawood, Kansas. There was a great turn out and with the help of the auctioneers they raised over $80K. Carolyn Long from KCTV 5 was even there again to interview a parent of one of the kids. I was honored to capture the evening with my camera! Brian and Joy are the greatest couple and they really have a heart to help these kids. I was humbled by how selfish I can be when I see how much they give. God Bless you both and the kids of New Horizon Ranch.
